Since going veggie a year ago I've become used to the surprised frowns and being questioned on what I actually eat (...err, the same as you but just without the meat!) but this headline in a French newspaper was a first!
It was in The Connexion - an English language paper I picked up in Bergerac - above a story telling how vegans and vegetarians were trying to get their voices heard. An annual Veggie Pride march has also been held since 2001.
Campaigners claim there are now around a million vegetarians in France and 100,000 vegans, although I have no idea what they eat in restaurants. On my two weeks I survived on a diet of salads and mushroom omelettes so am hoping that their marching efforts succeed.
