My career began in 1994 as a freelance for Motoring News (now Motorsport News) while studying at the London College of Printing for my Pre-entry Certificate in Periodical Journalism and Diploma in Publishing Production.

I then joined Observer Group Newspapers in East Sussex as a trainee reporter, working for the Hastings Observer, Bexhill Observer and Rye & Battle Observer. I qualified with the Johnston Press Diploma in Journalism in early 1997.

My next move was to the Eastbourne Herald where I was the local government correspondent and covered the General Election, before a spell as a senior reporter further along the coast at The Argus, Brighton.

I then re-joined the Eastbourne Herald & Gazette Series as news editor of the Eastbourne Herald, Eastbourne Gazette, Seaford Gazette, Hailsham Gazette, Eastbourne Advertiser, and Business News magazine.

During the summer of 1998 I made the move to Leeds and became a business reporter on the Yorkshire Post, before coming down to London at the back end of the following year to join Sunday Business.

A switch to The Guardian's City desk followed before a return to Sunday Business as investment correspondent, where I helped launch a specialist investment section, as well as contributing to the news and features pages.

I then moved to the City desk of the Sunday Express before taking the decision to go freelance in November 2002. I now trade as Senlac Communications and have written for a long list of national publications, including the Independent, Sunday Telegraph, Daily Express, Daily Star Sunday, Independent on Sunday, Belfast Telegraph, Sunday Express and the Scotsman.

My work has also appeared in respected consumer and trade titles - such as Moneywise, Which? Money, Investment Week, Financial Adviser, Investment Adviser, New Model Adviser and International Adviser - as well as the websites of Citywire and Conjecture.

In addition, I have produced advertorials, ghostwritten columns for corporate clients, put together supplements, advised on website content, and authored a series of financial guides, as well as having written on other non-money subjects, including motorsport and football.
